Thinking of spending snow or holiday time curled up with a good movie? Here are some suggestions:
Slumdog Millionaire-love story with incredible depth, humour and fabulous music. A must, must see!
Pride and Prejudice-if you love this type of movie get the A&E version; six hours of romantic suspense. Megan and I periodically do a Pride and Prejudice day and watch the whole thing.
Pride and Prejudice-recent shorter version…simple, romantic…sigh!
Alien vs Predator-got to include one for the guys or those who like action/sci-fi. We loved the Alien and Predator movies, this one was definitely the best, combining a fight between the two of them.
Serenity-oh my gosh, the author, Josh Whedon, is a genius with dialogue. Scifi
Children of Heaven-foreign, subtitles but absolutely delightful.
Gladiator-fantastic movie with Russell Crowe at his best. He portrayed a ‘real man’.
Star Trek-a rush from beginning to end. Scifi prequel to the TV series.
Okay, I’ve shared mine, what are yours? I want to watch some good movies over the holidays and totally cleanse my mind of stats and neuropsychology and infant and child development!
Hi,
Best movie that I have recently seen is “The King’s Speech”. Colin Firth was excellent and well deserved his Oscar. What amazed me the most was the demographics the afternoon we went. Mostly adults 60+ eating their lunches in the theatre! It just goes to show that a well made movie, doesn’t have to Sci-Fi to be good. It can be based on history and fact and made to be moving and compelling and very funny. The relationship that Firth and Rush developed in the movie was wonderful. His attitude to royalty of the day and use of personal names instead of their royal titles, helped to break down so many barriers on so many levels. Lionel Logue and his unprofessional, yet compassionate treatment of HRH , was amazing.
We need far more movies of this calibre written and produced to be enjoyed by all.
Here, here. We loved it too. Maybe the response it got will stimulate more movies of that caliber and entertainment!
